My name's Nigel Julian and I'm an avid researcher of all things 8th Air Force, but particularly the 56th Fighter Group.
I spend many happy hours digging deep into the archives of the 56th trying to solve the big jigsaw which is the allocation of aircraft and pilots. I can often be found around Halesworth, although its a 350+ mile round trip for me.
I am also compiling photos of memorials to the 8th, inspired by Dennis Lains book. Its surprising how they have changed since that book was published.At the last count I have visited over 40 memorial sites.
Another side to my interest includes taking "then and now" photos, and photographing what remains of the airfields. I hope to share some with you all soon.
I am an avid scale modeller and I also run the P-47 SIG website which includes P-47's in all areas of operations which keeps me very busy.
