Guys,
Just thought that you would be interested in how some of the parts that were ‘recovered’ from the recent digs, have found there way back into doing what they were intended for.

I bought some flexible ammo tracking, disassembled it, straightened it, cleaned and acid dipped it then reassembled it all into 2 six foot lengths, then sent it to Prague.

Why Prague?, well that’s where we were filming the B-17 scenes for George Lucas for his new film Red Tails.

We had constructed a B-17 fuselage and needed all the equipment and firing guns.
The flexible tracking was once again used to have 50 cal. ammo flowing through it.
I wonder when the last time that happened.

Not sure when, going through a few re-shoots at the moment, but all the B-17 stuff has now been completed.

So any chance of seeing this B-17 section? or does it belong to the film company?

MIKE.

Would be good to see it at a show.

NICE!

Only a shame they, as usual, only show the B17 winning the air war. The poor ole' B24 forgotten again!

Nice work Dave reshaping the ammo tracking, amazing that the parts we dug have been 're-issued' to be used again for their original purpose some 65 years later.

The new GMC 6x6 we are currently completing will be setup as a USAAF gunnery training vehicle with a 50 cal in a waist gun flexible mount using dug ammo cans, waist gun mounts, ammo tracking & there will also be a live firing Browning A-5 automatic shotgun installed in another waistgun mount with a skeet launcher setup for some 'waist gunner' demonstrations.
